During the FKF press conference Mathare United’s center back David Cheche was challenged by sports journalists to defend himself why he earned the Harambee Stars call-up despite being unattached to a football club for a large spell of time. He only joined Mathare United during the mid-window transfer.
David Cheche inclusion into the 30-man Harambee Stars provisional squad was not received well by a part of the fan base, questioning his match fitness.
“Those who have been following local action know that i have played four league matches for Mathare United and therefore, the issue of match fitness shouldn’t be a bother. I am a senior player who can decline if I feel I am not ready,” he said.
The Harambee Stars team is set to lock horns with Iran on March 28th in an international friendly.
