Construction at Talanta Sports City Stadium is rapidly advancing with significant progress on the roofing and curtain wall. This innovative stadium, a flagship project by the Kenyan government, aims to be the largest and most modern in East and Central Africa. Initiated in March 2024 by President William Ruto, the project supports Kenya’s hosting of the 2024 African Nations Championship and the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, shared with Uganda and Tanzania under the PAMOJA bid.
The steel framework for the roofing is nearly finished, promising strong support for the canopy and floodlights. Designed with FIFA standards in mind, the roofing materials will optimize shade while preserving grass growth and TV broadcast quality. The unique tensile and hydraulic cable net roofing system ensures a light and elegant appearance but restricts future stadium expansion.
Work on the curtain wall also shows major steel installations, including a design reflecting the Kenyan flag and a media facade that will feature vibrant lighting technologies. Although the stadium is targeted for completion by the end of 2025, the timeline appears tight with less than two months remaining.
