AFC Leopards head coach Thomas Trucha has pointed out that ‘internal problems’ were why their five-match winning streak was halted after their goalless draw with their rivals Kakamega Homeboyz.

The Ingo derby that was held on Sunday at Bukhungu Stadium was a contentious one as Trucha described it in his post-match thoughts.

According to various sources, the ‘internal’ problems were stirred up by salary, and winning bonuses arrears on their players.

“We had some internal problems, and it was not easy to prepare the team for this game. I’m happy for the boys that we achieved one point. We wanted three points, but as you know, a derby is a derby, and you never know who will make the mistake. It was a very tight game, both teams wanted to win the derby; both teams were fighting.” The gaffer said.

Similarly, Trucha blamed the poor pitch conditions that made it tough to get the tactics to give in.

The field wasn’t the best, so you can’t play much football. It was kick, run, and fight,” Trucha revealed.

The goalless draw meant that AFC Leopards sat on 8th with 31 points, two points shy of their rivals Kakamega Homeboyz who sit on 7th.
