Liverpool captain Virgil Van Dijk has confirmed that he is in talks with the club over a new deal.
The Merseyside club has three senior players, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah, and Van Dijk, whose contracts expire at the end of the current season. Arne Slot has always insisted that the club will make their decisions on whether to offer them a new deal.
Speaking after a 2-1 win over Chelsea, Van Dijk confirmed the news. “I can say discussions are ongoing, but I don’t know what happens in the future,” said Van Dijk. “My very full focus is on Liverpool, wanting to win games that are ahead of me and nothing else. What the future will bring, I have no idea at the moment. I can only tell you that discussions are ongoing with the right people, and when it’s time to make a decision or whatever, I think you guys [the media] will know it as well. But now full commitment and focus are on Liverpool and to be successful this season. So we will see.” He said.
Trent Alexander Arnold is rumoured to be interested in moving to Spanish giants Real Madrid on a free transfer, while Mohammed Salah has not been linked with any other club.
