Manchester City has rejected the opening bid from Barcelona for midfielder Rodri.
Barcelona are understood to have submitted an offer worth around €45 million, including potential add-ons, but City consider the bid insufficient for a player like Rodri. The former Premier League champions are reportedly seeking a significantly higher fee before considering his departure.Rodri is entering the final year of his contract at the Etihad Stadium.
The Spanish midfielder remains one of Europe’s most respected defensive midfielders, having played a key role in Manchester City’s recent success. Barcelona views Rodri as an ideal addition to their midfield and believes his experience, technical ability, and knowledge of Spanish football would make him a perfect fit for the team.
Barcelona is expected to continue discussions. The Catalan giants may now have to improve their offer if they are serious about securing Rodri’s signature this summer.
