Barely 67days after his appointment, Sevilla manager Diego Alonso has been show the exit door after consistently failing to register encouraging results as he has managed only two wins in 13 matches.

Sevilla lost 3-0 against Getafe on Saturday, the defeat leaves Sevilla close to relegation zone in La Liga.The 48-year-old leaves his post with Sevilla currently above the drop zone on goal difference.

Alonso lasted just 67 days in his role after being appointed in October and leaves having overseen only 13 games in charge while only managing to register two wins both coming in the Copa del Rey.

Sevilla posted a short statement confirming they had sacked the Uruguayan head coach and will now begin searching for a new permanent replacement.

”We would like to communicate that Diego Alonso has been relieved of his duties as first team head coach. We thank him for his efforts and wish him the best for the future,” said Sevilla on their official website.

Sevilla has reached an agreement with Quique Sanchez Flores as new manager to replace Diego Alonso.

Sanchez Flores has previously managed Valencia, Benfica, and Atletico Madrid, and now takes over the reins at Sevilla.

Sanchez Flores won the Europa League with Atletico Madrid in 2010. Sanchez Flores faces the immediate task of revitalizing Sevilla’s squad and improving their league standing.

Additionally, he will need to address the team’s overall strategy and morale to ensure a better performance in upcoming matches and seasons.
