Manchester United defeated Manchester City 2-1 to win the FA Cup finals played in Wembley on Saturday evening.
Alejandro Garnacho scored the opening goal for United after a defensive miscommunication between Gvardiol and Ortega. Minutes later, United added the second goal through Kobbie Mainoo after a lovely pass by Bruno Fernandes to give them a 2-0 halftime lead.
In the second half, Erling Haaland hit the post, with Andre Onana brilliantly denying Walker on two occasions. Substitute Jeremy Doku scored late for City, but there was not much time left for the Guardiola side to look for a leveller.
Speaking after the win, Erik Ten Hag was happy with his team performance: “Two trophies in two seasons and three finals… not bad.” “If they don’t want me anymore, I’ll go somewhere else and win trophies. That’s what I do.” “I prepare my team and develop it. It’s a project. When I arrived, I can say that it was a mess.” Today, we’re better. We’re not where we want to be yet.” He said.
