Harambee Starlets made a commanding start to their 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games qualifying campaign, defeating Seychelles 11-0 in the first leg of the second round at Ulinzi Sports Complex in Nairobi.
The Kenyan women’s national football team dominated the encounter, scoring 11 goals without reply to put themselves in a strong position ahead of the return leg.Playing on home soil, the Starlets showcased their attacking strength and ability to convert chances, leaving Seychelles with a difficult task in the second leg.
The result gives Kenya a significant advantage in the two-legged tie as they pursue qualification for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, United States.The Starlets will now look to complete the job in the return fixture and move closer to securing a place in the next stage of the Olympic qualifying competition.
The goals came from Valerie Nekesa, Elizabeth Muteshi, Airin Madalina, Mercy Airo, Elizabeth Mideva and Martha Amunyolete, with Nekesa, Madalina, Airo and Mideva among the players who scored multiple goals.The return leg is scheduled for Monday, October 12, with the aggregate winner set to face either Malawi or Zimbabwe in the next round.
