The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has heard Senegal’s appeal against the decision to strip it of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title and award it to Morocco. A verdict is expected within days, though no exact date has been confirmed.

What Happened

Senegal originally beat hosts Morocco 1-0 in the final in Rabat in January. In March, CAF overturned the result, declared a 3-0 win for Morocco, and handed the Teranga Lions’ title to the Atlas Lions.

Senegal then appealed to CAS, seeking to overturn CAF’s decision and be reinstated as champions.

Thursday’s Hearing

The closed-door session took place at CAS headquarters in Lausanne, with lawyers for Senegal, Morocco, and CAF presenting their arguments to a three-member panel led by French sports-law expert Gérald Simon.

CAS Director General Matthieu Reeb said the parties had agreed on the timetable and that the tribunal would rule as soon as possible, but not immediately after the hearing.

What Comes Next

The panel will now deliberate and issue a reasoned decision that will finally determine whether Senegal regain the crown or Morocco remain champions.
