Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has revealed that a dispute may arise in the club’s ownership.
There have been numerous reports that the Chelsea hierarchy have seen some big differences about the future of the club. This has been due to differences in the direction of the team among the minority and majority owners since their takeover in 2021. The club has opted to sign young players on a long-term contract, and some Chelsea fans have not been happy. Todd Boehly has now revealed differences might arise due to the plans to build a new stadium.
Speaking on the plans to build a new stadium, Boehly said a big decision needs to be made: “We have a big stadium development opportunity that we have to flesh out, and I think that’s where we either align or ultimately decide to go our different ways. But what has been written and talked about has much more drama than what’s actually happened.” He said.
He went on to add that he believes in the project in the long term. “We have been aligned on what we are trying to do and build. It’s a team that’s young. It’s a team that’s got long contracts. And all these things were new, and to do all these things we have done, it’s obviously because we are aligned.” He concluded.
