The Harambee Stars defeated Morocco 1-0 in the CHAN played at Kasarani.

After winning the opening game and drawing the second game, Stars had their sights on the quarter-finals. Morocco had the first chance of the game through Mo Ait but saw his effort bounce off the crossbar. Stars appealed for a penalty in the 17th minute, but the referee immediately waved off the appeals. Ryan Wesley Ogam then opened the scoring for the home side in the 41st minute after a brilliant effort. Chrispine Erambo was then sent off for a foul after VAR intervened.

The national team had to play with 10 men for the second consecutive game. In the second half, Byrne Omondi pulled off several key saves to hand the national team victory.

Speaking after the game, Head Coach McCarthy spoke on rotating the squad. “We saw a lot of tired legs after the match against Angola, and we couldn’t have coped with Morocco if we played the same team. So I told them, “Even if they didn’t start the first two matches, they have the opportunity to show what they can do against Morocco.” He said.
