Hosts Morocco is ready to rumble in the U-23 AFCON that is set to kick- off today. The hosts will lock horns with Guinea in the opening group match.

The team’s gaffer  Issame Charaï believes they are ready for the challenge of defending the nation’s heritage.

Being the hosts the tactician believes they have to play for the badge, however, are wary of their opponent’s quality.

The eight- Nations tournament will serve as a window to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

“The Federation has put us in excellent conditions in view of this tournament and we must represent the country well. We must not make mistakes,” said the coach.

The Hosts will siphon inspiration from their fellow country- people to rise up to the occasion; the senior men’s team that reached the semifinal stage of the FIFA World Cup 2022, the women’s senior team that qualified for the FIFA World Cup, and the U-17 team that also made it to the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
