Kenya Women’s Handball team got off to winning ways after mounting a superb comeback against Algeria to win in straight sets in the ongoing Africa Beach Games.

The ladies got out of the blocks slowly, but a tweak from their game plan saw them shift the momentum in their favor to leave Algeria ladies’ mouths agape. They beat them 19-13 and 11-5.

In what is the second edition of the tournament being held at Hammamet, Tunisia, Kenya are the helm after the emphatic display. The team’s captain Michelle Adhiambo believes the comeback was the right step in the trophy’s direction.

Within the first four minutes we identified where our mistakes were and we called for a time out and changed our approach and that enabled us to win. It feels very nice because we are one step closer to the medal bracket. This is a round-robin tournament and a win pushes you closer,” skipper Adhiambo said after the match.

Kenya will face off with neighbors Uganda and Mali on Sunday before a final showdown against hosts Tunisia, who beat them in the Global Tour, on Monday.
