Morocco bounced back to winning ways after defeating Zambia 3-1 at Nyayo Stadium.

The two-time winners, Morocco, tightened the race for the top spot with the national team, Harambee Stars, as the group stage nears conclusion. Morocco caused early pressure for the Zambia national team, who had to clear the ball twice from the goal line in the opening half. Kelvin Kampamba got the only chance for Zambia, but El Mehdi Al Harrar made a great save in the Morocco goal. Youssef Mehri then opened the deadlock for Morocco from close range to take them into a 1-0 half-time lead.

In the second half, Zambia thought they levelled, but the referee ruled out the goal due to a foul on Al Harrar. Osama Lamliaoui then doubled Morocco’s lead with a powerful header just minutes later. Chongo Kabas then pulled one back for Zambia to raise hopes of a comeback, but it was substitute Sabir Bourgine who scored the third goal for Morocco to cap off a fantastic night.
