Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has received a crucial boost after FIFA lifted financial restrictions on development funding, unlocking fresh support for rebuilding the game in Kenya. The decision follows a positive review of FKF’s governance and financial management reforms, confirmed in a letter from FIFA’s Governance, Audit and Compliance Committee to FKF General-Secretary Harold Ndege.

FIFA has now restored full access to funds under the FIFA Forward Programme, though FKF will remain under monthly financial reporting until at least March 2026. FKF President Hussein Mohammed hailed the move as a “strong vote of confidence” in the federation’s new direction, stressing improved governance, transparency, and accountability.

The reinstated funding will support key areas such as grassroots football, infrastructure, capacity building, and nationwide development programmes, which have struggled since funding was frozen in the fallout from the 2021 government-led dissolution of FKF. With resources now flowing again but under close scrutiny, FKF stands at a decisive moment to prove it can manage funds responsibly and drive sustainable growth for Kenyan football.
