Excitement builds for the 2026 Sirikwa Classic, slated for February 14 in Eldoret’s Lobo Village, Uasin Gishu County. Race director Barnaba Korir assures everything is primed for a top-tier fifth edition, drawing elite runners and promising young talents to this World Athletics-labeled cross-country gem.

Korir highlights the event’s rise as a continental powerhouse, fueled not just by prestige but by its role in scouting and grooming grassroots athletes. “We’ve always aimed for world-class standards while spotlighting emerging stars,” he shared. “Our track record shows runners who’ve launched from here to global success, proving we’re building Kenya’s future champions right.”

Consistency drives the Classic’s momentum, Korir notes, crediting stakeholder backing and relentless improvements in course design, logistics, and runner support. Technical head Ibrahim Hussein echoes this, confirming final tweaks for a safe, spectator-friendly track. “We’re elevating the thrill of cross-country—it’s a privilege to host this on our turf,” Hussein added.

With stars clashing and novices rising, the Sirikwa Classic solidifies its legacy in Kenya’s cross-country heritage, paving paths for tomorrow’s legends.
