Shabana Secretary General Elizapham Kerama claims that Shabana head coach Sammy Okoth was misquoted by the media after he took charge of Shabana’s training on Monday ahead of Gor Mahia encounter on Wednesday.

After humiliating 4-0 defeat at the hands of Ulinzi Stars on Sunday, Okoth said that, “In my coaching life I’ve never been disappointed like today. We’ve been playing and sometimes losing, but we’ve never been humiliated this way.

I’ve tried my best, bringing this team from the National Super League (NSL), emerging champions. I thank the fans who have been turning up in large numbers, and they should not be discouraged by today’s results.”

Shabana has won only one match against Tusker FC since their promotion to the FKFPL after 17 years in the lower leagues, having finished as champions of the second tier National Super League.

However, life has been difficult in the Premier League where a lack of experience and proper quality saw them struggle to win and it was not until their sixth match that they finally ended their winless run.

The secretary general has affirmed that the former Harambee Stars defender will be in charge of their match against Gor Mahia on Wednesday in Nairobi.

In earlier interview with ‘The Star‘, Kerama had said that Sammy Okoth’s assistant coach Oscar Kambona will take charge as they look for a new manager.

Kambona will lead the team against Gor Mahia on Wednesday and Bandari on Sunday as we look for a new coach by the time we host Nzoia Sugar on November 11,” He told The Star
