Sports cabinet secretary Ababu Namwamba had torn apart Gor Mahia after they were kicked out of the Champions League.

Last week, FKF Premier League champions Gor Mahia were kicked out of the Champions League qualifiers after they failed to honour the contracts of various foreign players who had played for the team.

Speaking during a meeting held in Nairobi, Amwamba said they should have communicated the problem earlier. “I’m very disappointed,” Namwamba said. “I had big plans for you in the Champions League, then you let me down; shame on you.” Instead of coming out and saying there was a problem, you waited until the last minute. Why should your Minister of Sports learn about these things in the media?” He continued.

He also urged the team to consider developing homegrown talents in order to avoid such scenarios in the future.
