Manchester City were knocked out of the FIFA Club World Cup after losing 4-3 to Al Hilal.

Bernardo Silva opened the scoring early on for Manchester City as he tapped in from close range. Bounou made a great save to deny Erling Haaland the second goal for City as Ederson was untroubled in the first half as the Saudi Arabian side failed to register a single shot on target.

However, in the second half, Al Hilal turned the game around with two quick-fire goals from Marcos Leonardo and Malcom, giving them a 2-1 lead. However, City quickly levelled the scoring through Erling Haaland after a mix-up in the corner kick.

In the extra time, Koulibaly scored the third goal from a Ruben Neves corner kick in the 94th minute as both teams looked exhausted. Substitute Phil Foden then drew City level once again a few minutes later. Al Hilal then scored the winner after Ederson saved Savic’s shot, which found Marcus Leonardo, who scored the winner.

Speaking after the game, Pep Guardiola said they will prepare for the new season: “We made a lot of actions, and Bounou made incredible saves. Nothing else to say. I have the feeling that the team is doing well, but we go home, and now it’s time to rest and refresh our minds and come back next season.” He said.
