Chelsea advanced to the quarter-finals of the Champions League after a 4-1 win over Benfica.

Enzo Maresca started the game on the front side as they controlled the tempo of the game. Marc Cucurella had the best chance for Chelsea, but his beautiful effort was saved off the line by Antonio Silva. Cole Palmer saw his near post effort saved just minutes later. Pedro Neto also came close to scoring in a first half majorly dominated by Chelsea.

In the second half, Chelsea eventually got the breakthrough when captain Reece James scored a wonderful free kick in the 64th minute. Liam Delap then scored just minutes later after rounding the goalkeeper, but he was ruled to be offside. The game was suspended with five minutes left to play due to adverse weather conditions. After nearly 2 hours, the game continued, and Benfica levelled through Ángel Di María, who scored from a penalty kick after Gusto’s handball.

In the extra time Chelsea eventually got the upper hand with goals from Nkunku, Pedro Neto and Dewsbury Hall securing the win.
