Following his impressive win in the London Marathon after he outwit the veteran marathon runner, Kenenisa Bekele, Kenyan Alexander Mutiso has revealed that he hopes the National Olympic Committee of Kenya selects him for the Paris Olympics.

He ran a tactical race to put down the Ethiopian gunman and he reveals he was not folded by his shoot-out with the 41-year-old legend. He clocked 2:04.15 while Bekele clocked 2:04.01.

“At 40km, I felt the pressure from Bekele but I had a lot of confidence because I trained for this. After 40km I thought I had enough energy to win. That’s why I kicked and knew I would win,” Mutiso told BBC Sport.

With two Olympic slots up for grabs, Mutiso backs himself to clinch one.

“I hope for the best. If they select me, I will go and work for it.” He added.
