Shujaa’s strength and conditioning coach Andrew Amonde is upbeat about the team’s readiness for the 2026 HSBC SVNS Division 2 season after a successful high-performance camp in South Africa. The squad traveled there on January 12 for a week of intensive training, including several matches against the Blitzboks, which sharpened their skills and fitness.

“The camp was highly productive with plenty of learning—especially after our third game, when the players really clicked,” Amonde told reporters. Post-camp, they took a brief break to play for their clubs before regrouping for final prep ahead of Kenya’s historic hosting of the Division 2 opener on February 14-15 at Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi.

Amonde praised the progress and urged fans to pack the stands for both Shujaa and the Lionesses. “We’re peaking now and ready to represent Kenya proudly at home—nothing beats that crowd energy,” he said. The series continues in Montevideo (March 21-22) and São Paulo (March 28-29), with top teams vying for promotion to Division 1 in 2027.

South Africa remains a key training hub for Kenyan rugby, benefiting players like Jackson Siketi, David Williams, Andrew Matoka, and Dennis Ndayala through Cape Town programs—echoing the Simbas’ recent prep for Rugby Africa Cup qualifiers.
