Argentina defeated Brazil 1-0 in the World Cup qualifier at the Maracana Stadium.

In a game full of chaos between the two rivals, the game was full of tackles from both sides. Brazil Police delayed kickoff as they were recorded beating some innocent Argentine fans in the stadium.

Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli had an early chance to give Brazil the lead, but Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez denied him brilliantly. Nicholas Otamendi scored the only goal of the game in the 63rd game to win the game for Argentina.

Sparking after the game, Argentina captain Lionel Messi criticised the police for their behaviour: “We saw how the police were hitting people, along with some of our families ere—it  also happened in the Libertadores final”. They are more focused on that than on playing the game”. “We are a family. We decided to play to make the situation more calm”. He said.
