Arsenal have reached an agreement with Aston Villa to sign England international defender Ezri Konsa in a deal worth around £51 million.
The 28-year-old is expected to complete his medical before officially joining the Gunners. Konsa joined Aston Villa from Brentford in July 2019, following his development at Charlton Athletic. During his time at Villa, he established himself as a key defender and became an important part of the club’s recent European success. Most notably, he helped Aston Villa win the Europa League last season, adding a major European trophy to his achievements at the club.
The versatile defender, who can operate at both center-back and right-back, brings valuable Premier League and international experience to Mikel Arteta’s squad. Konsa’s move to Arsenal represents a significant new chapter in his career after seven successful years at Aston Villa. Arsenal have been on the move for a new defender after William Saliba is set to be ruled out for an extended period ahead of the new campaign.
