Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus has undergone knee surgery and will be sidelined for a few weeks.

The Brazilian forward suffered a knee injury just before their game against Monaco yesterday. Jesus played for 79 minutes in their win against Barcelona earlier in the week, and Arteta praised his contribution. Arteta confirmed that the former Manchester City striker will be sidelined for a few weeks.

Speaking before the game against Monaco,Arteta said his injury will be a big miss for the team. “Unfortunately, he had a little procedure this morning,” Arteta said. “He’s had some discomfort in his knee that caused him some issues, so they had to go in. It’s not something major, but he’s going to be out for a few weeks.”It’s a big blow because we had him back to his best, especially with the way he played against Barcelona, and he was in good condition, but unfortunately we lost him.” He concluded.

Arsenal will take on Manchester City on Sunday in the Community Shield as the Premier League nears its return.
