The Commonwealth 800 meters reigning champion Mary Moraa might receive a clear pathway to clinching the World title in Budapest, Hungary after it remains uncertain for the World and Olympics 800 meters champion Athing Mu.

Athing Mu’s participation in the upcoming World Championships remains vague as her coach, Bobby Kersee, is keeping cards close to his chest, once the question is asked.

Speaking with the Los Angeles Times, he was unclear.

“It’s in our control if we decide we’re just going to go ahead and train through this year and focus on next year, then that’s what we’re going to do,” he said. “The training is going well but our thought process, openly, is that we’re going to just train here in L.A. for the next two weeks and the next time she gets on the plane it’ll either be on vacation or to Budapest,” Kersee revealed.

If she fails to participate, this will leave the Kenyan prodigy, Mary Moraa with acres of opportunity to once and for clinch the World title.

However, one formidable opponent will still stand in her way- Keely Hodgkinson, the British 800-meter sensation.
