Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are set to resign Jerome Boateng on a short-term deal as the club tries to fight the injury crisis that they are facing with their defense line.

Boateng is currently a free agent after departing Ligue 1 club Olympique Lyon on June 9th 2023 following the expiration of his contract.

Boateng joined Lyon from Bayern in 2021 after spending 10 years in his first spell with Bayern Munich.

According to Sky Sports in Germany, Bayern are close to completing a deal to bring Jerome Boateng back to the club as the 35-year-old is also keen to return to the club where he won numerous silverwares.

The German defender has been a free agent since leaving Lyon in the summer. Boateng has already completed the first part of medicals, and he took part in the training with the squad today.

Boateng is seen as a short-term solution in the center-back position as the club will try to explore the January transfer window to sign another defender to replace Benjamin Pavard who joined Inter Milan.

The Bavarian club sold Benjamin Pavard to Inter Milan in the final week of the summer transfer window.

Bayern Munich tried to sign Trevoh Chalobah and Armel Bella-Kotchap from Chelsea and Southampton respectively to replace Pavard but the deals did not materialize.
