Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta ended his 11-year stay at the club yesterday.

The Spanish defender, who had previously played for Olympique de Marseille in Ligue 1, was brought in in 2012. He has since made nearly 500 appearances, scored 17 goals, and captured every major trophy possible. Azpilicueta leaves Chelsea as a legend after helping the team win the Premier League with Antonio Conte and the Champions League with Thomas Tuchel as club captain.

After Chelsea decided to terminate his contract, he reached an agreement to join Atletico Madrid on a free transfer.

Speaking during his farewell press conference, Cesar Azpilicueta was emotional. “It is difficult to express with words what I feel. It has been incredible, and I just want to say thank you to everyone. This is my home, and I hope to see everybody back here one day.” “The dressing room was full of club legends and football legends. I knew I had to work for my place,” He said.
