Former Chelsea midfielder and Spanish international Cesc Fabregas has taken interim charge of Serie B side Como following the departure of head coach Moreno Longo.

Fabregas, who played for Arsenal, Barcelona, Chelsea, Monaco and Como, has stepped up from his role as the Como 1907 under-19 coach according to official club statement that read:

“Como 1907 and Moreno Longo have parted company. The search for a new Head Coach begins immediately with Cesc Fàbregas and the current coaching staff taking over duties for the interim period.

Following several months of strategic planning, the board decided that a dynamic change was in the best interests of the club.

Longo joined Como in September 2022 where he helped the team avoid relegation finishing 13th last season. Cesc Fàbregas who currently coaches Como 1907 Primavera will take his first training session on Wednesday morning.

We thank Moreno Longo for all his hard work and dedication, especially after coming in following a difficult period last season.

However, we would like to embark on a new path that hopefully will provide more excitement and entertainment for the fans in Como and beyond.

We hope to make a new appointment for the head coach position in the near future. We thank the fans for understanding and their unwavering loyalty and support. As always, Forza Como.”Mirwan Suwarso, official representative of the ownership group said.
