Chelsea defeated Newcastle 3-2 in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.
Nicholas Jackson opened the scoring by flicking a shot by Cole Palmer, which beat Dubravka in the Newcastle goal to score his ninth goal of the season. Alexander Isak levelled the scoring for Newcastle after a defending mixup by Chelsea to level the scores before halftime.
In the second half, Cole Palmer scored Chelsea’s second goal of the game after a beautiful pass by Enzo Fernandez. Substitute Mykhailo Mudyrk scored the third goal for Chelsea after a wonderful setup in which he dribbled past the Newcastle goalkeeper. Jacob Murphy scored the second goal for the visitors, but it was too late, as Chelsea managed to come out victorious.
Speaking after the game, Chelsea manager Mauriccio Pochettino praised Mudyrk’s impact. “It was a very good goal; he scored a really good goal, and that is what we expect from a player that came from the bench—an impact. Then it’s about to compete with different players in the position he can play and then deserve to play. It’s more of a question for him than for me.” He said.
