Chelsea have today confirmed the signing of Axel Disasi from AS Monaco.

Chelsea will pay AS Monaco over £38 million for the French defender, who is set to replace Wesley Fofana, who will be sidelined for a few months due to injury. Disasi has signed a long-term contract at the club that is six years long and will run until 2028.

Speaking after completing the move, Chelsea sporting directors Paul and Lawrence welcomed discontent at the club. “He is ready to take the next step in his career, and we are delighted that it will be with Chelsea. We welcome him to the club and look forward to him joining up with Mauricio Pochettino and his new teammates in the days ahead, said sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart.

Chelsea will take on Liverpool on the opening day of the Premier League.
