Chelsea drew 2-2 with Qarabag in the Champions League game played on Wednesday night.
The Premier League side were looking for their third straight win in the Champions League. Maresca named a heavily rotated side and rested a few key players for the team. Romeo Lavia was forced off with an injury early on. Estevao opened the scoring for the away side after a layoff by Andy Santos to score in back-to-back Champions League games. Leandro Andrade levelled the scores for the home side after meeting a rebound strike. Qarabag were then awarded a penalty kick after Kato handled the ball, and Jankovic stepped up to slot the ball in.
Enzo Maresca made halftime substitutions and brought in Garnacho, Liam Delap and Enzo Fernandez. Chelsea levelled with the first attack of the second half as Garnacho launched a powerful left strike into the bottom corner. Liam Delap saw his effort sail over the bar as Chelsea kept on looking for the winner. Enzo Fernandez saw his strike blocked off the line as he kept threatening the goal. Estevao looked more threatening, but his crosses were met well, and Chelsea were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw.
In other results, Barcelona drew 3-3 with Club Brugge, and Newcastle won 2-0 as Man City beat Dortmund 4-1.
