In the post-Graham Potter era, the Blues’ goal-scoring problems persisted as they were held to a 0-0 draw by fellow underachievers Liverpool on Tuesday evening.

Kai Havertz and Mateo Kovacic were the primary offenders, missing two glorious opportunities each as the Blues failed to capitalize on their dominance. In the first half, Kai Havertz had two excellent opportunities, one of which Allison saved and the other of which just missed the target. Mateo Kovacic had the best chance of the game as he dribbled past Allison but saw his shot blocked by Konate at the line.

Joao Felix also could not get a shot off after a brilliant run past Liverpool players. Joe Gomez saw his late effort saved by Kepa during Liverpool’s best chance of the game. In the second half, Kai Havertz thought he had given the Blues the lead, but his effort was ruled out by VAR for a handball on the rebound by Allison Becker. Liverpool and Chelsea have drawn 0-0 for the fourth consecutive time. Chelsea will next play against Wolves, while Liverpool will host Arsenal at Anfield.
