Chelsea star Cole Palmer has withdrawn from the England squad after suffering a small muscular injury, ruling him out of the Three Lions’ upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures.
Palmer had been recalled by England manager Thomas Tuchel after being left out of the squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. His return came after an impressive start to the season with Chelsea, where he has recorded four goals and two assists in seven appearances across all competitions.
Reports indicate that Chelsea’s medical staff are managing the 24-year-old’s workload carefully, particularly following his injury problems during the previous campaign. Palmer also played the full 90 minutes in Chelsea’s 3–0 defeat to Brentford on Friday.
The withdrawal means Palmer will miss England’s upcoming Nations League fixtures, including the meeting with World Cup champions Spain at Wembley on September 26, as well as matches against Czechia and Croatia.
Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White has been called up as Palmer’s replacement, according to The Times.Palmer’s focus will now be on recovering from the muscular issue and returning to action for Chelsea.Get well soon, Cole!
