Manchester United were held to a 1–1 draw by Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday evening.
Bruno Fernandes had the first chance of the game, but his effort from Cunha’s cutback hit the post. Cunha also saw an effort come back off the woodwork just minutes later. Fulham threatened through Josh King and Sander Berge, forcing fine saves from Senne Lammens.
Fulham eventually took the lead in the 63rd minute when Calvin Bassey’s shot was saved by Lammens before the ball struck Martínez and rolled into his own net. United pushed for an equaliser, with Bernd Leno denying both Bryan Mbeumo and Cunha. Their persistence finally paid off in the 89th minute when Cunha’s long-range effort took a huge deflection off David Affengruber and beat Leno.
Speaking after the game, Fulham manager Álvaro Arbeloa was not happy with the referee: “Every decision was for them. I knew after the game against Manchester City that they don’t like Manchester United to lose. There were so many things for Man United; you can see it in the foul by Maguire.” He said.
