Following his lukewarm start to his 2024 Athletics season the double Olympic marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge has cleared the air on retirement rumors.

After finishing 10th In the Tokyo Marathon, there were speculations that Kipchoge would retire after the 2024 Paris Olympics.

He said that the moment he would hang up his boots it would be because of enriching the nation with many more runners.

“If you can convince me that the moment I will be crossing the finishing line the whole world has become a running world then I will retire,” Kipchoge told Reuters.

Similarly, when inquired about participating in the 2028 Olympics, Kipchoge emphasized the importance of taking one event at a time.

 “You know in Kenya we say you don’t chase two rabbits at a time, you will miss all of them. You chase one. So the rabbit of the Olympic Games is what I’m chasing now. 

“After that, I go back to the drawing board, see what’s on my bucket list, and start again to chase the next.” He added.

Eliud is bracing to make history in the upcoming Paris Olympics by becoming the first Marathoner to win three successive Gold medals.
