Two-time world record holder Eliud Kipchoge is back on the road, running alongside royalty at the Amazing Thailand Marathon in Bangkok. Just a month after completing his third marathon this year in New York, Kipchoge will join the half-marathon event on Sunday, 30 November, starting at 2 AM Bangkok time (10 PM EAT on Saturday). The marathon legend recently met King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida, expressing his admiration for Thailand’s warm hospitality and honoring the memory of the late Queen Sirikit during a year of national remembrance.
Kipchoge, who finished 17th at the 2025 New York City Marathon, hasn’t run a half-marathon since 2016. While he holds a personal best of 59:25 from 2012, his participation is no longer about chasing records. As an ambassador for Thai Tourism, Sport, and Culture, Kipchoge’s run is focused on inspiring others and supporting the 48,000 runners taking part, including Queen Suthida.
Reflecting on his journey, Kipchoge shared that his goal is to show young people they can continue pushing limits beyond competitive racing. His run in Bangkok is part of a broader mission to promote sport, culture, and tourism across continents, including plans for a future run in Antarctica.
