Bernard Koech has revealed that his fellow countryman Eliud Kipchoge, was pivotal to his win in the Haspa Marathon, in Hamburg after running an impressive time of 2:04:09.

The 35-year-old tied his personal best and is now the fourth-fastest runner in the world this year. Fellow Kenyans Joshua Belet and Martin Kosgei took second and third at 2:04:33 and 2:06:18 respectively.

Koech, who improved the course record by 38 seconds, said:”

“I ran a good race and I knew that I probably had to run a time around my PB to win,” said Koech. “I spoke with Eliud Kipchoge about the course before I came here and he gave me some advice.”
