Key Injuries at key stages of the league had also been detrimental to giving them any chance of lifting the trophy.

Thika Queen’s head coach Fred Majani has conceded the FKF-WPL trophy is out of their hands after they were thrashed 3-0 by Ulinzi Starlets at Ulinzi Sports Complex.

Goals courtesy of a brace from Fasila Odhiambo and one for Sheryl Angachi buried any title hopes for the queens.

“With six matches remaining and the caliber of the squad I have, I must admit it will be difficult for us to fight for the league title. We have no choice but to go back to the drawing board for the 2023-2024 season,” Majani noted.

Key Injuries at key stages of the league had also been detrimental to giving them any chance of lifting the trophy.

“Losing Wendy Atieno to injury and Juliet Andibo to suspension was a big blow for me.  I also have other key injuries in the team and I don’t know how I am going to end the league for sure,” Majani noted.

On the other hand, Ulinzi Starlets’ gaffer, Joseph Wambua, was a happy man after the victory.

“Thika Queens are a strong side but they lost concentration in the second half and we took advantage, we had prepared well for the match because we knew what our opponents are capable of, and we didn’t want another draw again this time round,” he said.
