Gaspo Women are on top of the FKF-WPL after thumping Trans Nzoia Falcons 3-1 on Sunday afternoon, in what has turned out to be a mouth-watering title fight with the defending champions Vihiga Queens.
Gaspo and the Queens are on level points (34). However, Gaspo has a superior goal difference.
The league leader’s assistant head coach, James Ombeng, affirmed their thirst for the maiden trophy.
“My girls did well to ensure we take no chance to waste as we push towards winning the KWPL trophy,” Ombeng said.
Gaspo Women has given Vihiga Queens a run for their money this season, going toe to toe with the defending champions. Trans Nzoia Falcon’s assistant gaffer, Justin Okiring, vindicated the quality of Gaspo this season.
“I can’t complain much. We lost fair and square and we live to fight another day. We will work on a few things to put our house in order and ensure we bounce back in the next match,” Okiring said.
On the other hand, Vihiga Queens also won their fixture against Bunyore Starlets 1-0 to mount pressure on Gaspo.
The Nyamunyamu-led side is struggling to reciprocate their invincible form of last year when they went the league unbeaten.
