Manchester City striker Erling Haaland was nowhere to be seen at the Santiago Bernabeu in the 1-1 draw with Real Madrid.

Erling Haaland, who has been in hot form this season and has 12 goals in the Champions League at this stage, put on a poor display against Real Madrid yesterday. His bright side came in the opening half, with Thibaut Courtois making brilliant saves to deny the Norwegian from scoring. His header was also comfortably taken by Courtois. In the second half, his major involvement was a shot that was blocked by David Alaba for a corner kick.

In the whole game, he was limited to just 21 touches, with Antonio Rudiger handling him very well. He also completed seven fewer passes than their goalkeeper, Ederson.

Speaking after the game, Carlo Ancelotti praised Rudiger for handling Haaland well. “Defensively, we were good. Rudiger did well against Haaland, and the midfield had control. The performance was good, and we are happy. We have strong motivation for the next game.” He said.
