Manchester City defeated rivals United 3-0 in the Manchester derby at Old Trafford.

Erling Haaland opened the scoring early in the first half from the penalty spot after Rodri was brought down in the box. In the final minutes of the first half, Onana made a brilliant save to deny Haaland from scoring the second to ensure no further damage was done.

Haaland then scored his second goal after the second half after he was left alone in the second half and scored a comfortable header to double the lead. Rashford had a brilliant chance to score for United but saw his shot sail wide off the post. Foden then scored the third goal for City to give them a maximum of three points.

Speaking after the loss, United boss Erik Ten Hag said that they are on the way up. “The three games before, we won, and the spirit is very good,” Ten Hag stressed. “Fighting spirit is very good, so I think we are on the way up. The start was difficult, but we are on the way up. I’m sure when injuries get back, we will be stronger. Therefore, we have to be patient, but I’m happy with some subs or some injuries coming back, and then our side will be stronger.” He said.
