The 2025 UEFA Europa League final, will go down tonight as Tottenham Hotspur face Manchester United at San Mamés Stadium in Bilbao, Spain.

This all-English final marks the 11th time two teams from the same nation have met in the competition’s final and the third all-English final.

Both clubs, sitting 16th and 17th in the Premier League, secured their spots through strong Europa League campaigns, with Tottenham finishing 4th and Manchester United 3rd in the league phase.

Tottenham advanced with a 5-1 aggregate win over Bodø/Glimt in the semi-finals, while Manchester United dominated Athletic Club 7-1 on aggregate.

The winner will earn a spot in the 2025–26 UEFA Champions League and a chance to play in the 2025 UEFA Super Cup.

The Europa League final tonight will be a big game for so many reasons, but it could also have a big impact on one of this summer’s major transfer sagas.

If Manchester United or Tottenham Hotspur get their hands on the trophy, they’ll also seal that all-important Champions League qualification for next season, which should then open the door to a higher calibre of player in the transfer market.

Team News

Tottenham: Captain Son Heung-min is expected to be fit after a foot injury, but James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, and Lucas Bergvall are ruled out. Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are available.

Manchester United: Joshua Zirkzee, Diogo Dalot, and Leny Yoro are back from injuries, but Lisandro Martinez is out. Matthijs de Ligt is likely to play despite a recent knee issue.

Tottenham won the UEFA Cup (predecessor to the Europa League) in 1972 and 1984, while Manchester United won in 2017 but lost in 2021. Tottenham beat United three times this season (twice in the Premier League, once in the EFL Cup).
