Africa 100 meters champion Ferdinand Omanyala, has broken Tiaan Whelpton Athletics Kenya 10.18 meeting record after running 9.86 to the tape in the ongoing Athletics Kenya meeting taking place at Nyayo Stadium.

Omanyala who aspires to clinch the World Championship and Diamond League title this year, revealed that he is planning to run even much faster tomorrow- last day of the Athletics outdoor meeting.

“I am happy for this time in my first race outdoors this year, but I plan to dip under 9.80 in the final on Saturday. I am happy that my body has responded well to training, and it is a good place to be this early in the season.” He revealed after the race.

Athletics Kenya outdoor meeting kicked off today and will wind up tomorrow. This is a very vital event since it is enlisted as a World Athletic championship ranking
