Football Kenya Federation has confirmed that the 2026/27 FKF Premier League season will begin on Saturday, September 19. This ends weeks of uncertainty over the return of top-flight football.
The announcement follows a Murang’a High Court ruling that allowed FKF to organise the league under the 2019 regulations while legal proceedings concerning the 2025 rules continue.
The organizers had initially scheduled the campaign to start on August 22, and postponed it to August 29. Defending champions Gor Mahia will open their title defence at home against Murang’a Seal, while AFC Leopards will host Bandari.
Other opening-day fixtures include Tusker versus Ulinzi Stars, Nairobi United against KCB, APS Bomet versus Mathare United, and newly promoted Migori Youth hosting Kenya Police. 3K FC will face Mara Sugar as Kenyan league football finally resumes.
