Nairobi, Kenya – In a historic move to elevate women’s football, the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has unveiled end-of-season prize money for the Women’s Premier League, rewarding the top three teams with substantial cash incentives.
League champions will claim a cool Ksh 1 million, runners-up secure Ksh 500,000, and third place bags Ksh 250,000. This financial injection recognizes standout performances and aims to fuel club development amid growing fan excitement.
Currently, Kenya Police Bullets FC dominate the standings with 46 points, nursing a slender two-point lead over fierce rivals Ulinzi Starlets. Trinity Starlets hold third on 34 points, keeping the pressure on as the season hurtles toward its climax.
The prizes come at a pivotal moment, with matches intensifying and promotion-relegation battles heating up. Police Bullets, powered by stars like Cynthia “Bomba” Okoth, have been relentless in attack, while Ulinzi’s defensive solidity makes them a real threat to snatch the title.
FKF officials hail the initiative as a game-changer. “We’re investing in our women’s game to build sustainable clubs and inspire the next generation,” said one league insider.
