In a stunning turn of events at Nyayo National Stadium, Mathare United roared back from a halftime deficit to demolish AFC Leopards 4-1 in the FKF Premier League on Saturday, March 14.

The shock result has all but derailed Leopards’ championship hopes, leaving them stranded on 43 points—six adrift of table-toppers Gor Mahia, who can now pull further ahead in their Sunday showdown.

Leopards arrived brimming with confidence after a red-hot streak, claiming seven wins in their last 10 outings, capped by a 5-1 thrashing of Shabana.

Mathare, meanwhile, were desperate to snap a dismal run: just one victory in five games, including losses to Shabana and Gor Mahia.

The Slum Boys seized control early, bossing possession against a lethargic Leopards side. But it was after the break that Mathare unleashed chaos, netting four unanswered goals to flip the script and ignite their survival push.

This heartbreak piles pressure on Leopards while gifting Gor Mahia a golden window to dominate the title race.
