The Germany national team lost 3-0 to Slovakia in a World Cup qualifier.
This was Germany’s fourth World Cup qualifier ever, and Slovakia became just the first home side ever to beat Germany in a World Cup qualifier. Feyenoord youngster Leo Sauer caused trouble for Germany early on, with Jonathan Tah blocking his shot after getting past Rüdiger.Florian Wirtz had the best chance for Germany in the first half, but Martin Dúbravka saved his effort. David Hancko opened the scoring for the home side after a beautiful cutback.
In the second half, the home side added the second goal through Strelec, who pumped past Antonio Rudiger. Germany made changes as they brought on Serge Gnabry and Stiller but could not break through the Slovakia defence.
Speaking after the loss, German national team coach Julian Nagelsmann said he will make changes in his next call-up. “Apart from 2-3 injured players, these are the best quality players we have in Germany. Maybe next time we have to call up players with less quality but who will give everything on the pitch.” He said.
