Harambee Starlets striker Jentrix Shikangwa could be on her way out of Simba Queens of Tanzania after just a few months at the club, with South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies FC and unnamed clubs from Asia after her signature.

Shikangwa emerged as the top scorer in the Tanzanian Women Premier League in the just-concluded season after finding the back of the net 17 times in 16 matches. She was also named in the team of the season, and it is no surprise that she is emerging as a target for foreign clubs.

Simba Queens manager Selemani Makanya has confirmed that the player, who joined them in September 2022 on a deal until the end of the season, could actually be on her way out of the Dar es Salaam-based club.

“It’s true that Shikangwa may leave us soon; many teams are chasing after her signature. So far, we have received offers from South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns and clubs from Japan, South Korea, and China as well. So far, I can’t say anything because the negotiations are ongoing, but once the deal is complete, we will be able to report it to the media,” she told Citizen Digital.

“She is now on her last month of her contract, meaning if all goes well, then she will have reported to her new side by July 1.

Jentrix is a great player and has really been instrumental at Simba this season. I know it will be a big blow to let her go, but as the club, we understand that’s the way to boost a player’s growth in a football career.”.

“Maybe if she joins one of the cubs thirsting for her, then she would have increased her pay and brightened her future, and maybe you don’t know, she may always yearn to rejoin Simba in the future after her business in Europe is done.”

Shikangwa is a full Kenyan international. She started her career at Vihiga Queens and later moved to Fatih Karagümrük before signing for Simba.
