Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has stated that Raheem Sterling is not part of his project and that he prefers other wingers over Sterling.
These comments come just days after Sterling was left out of the squad that lost to Manchester City last weekend at Stamford Bridge.
According to Maresca, Sterling is training away from the first team because he knows he will struggle to get the minutes at Chelsea.
“Sterling is training apart from the first team. I just try to be honest with him. I told Raheem he’s going to struggle to get minutes here with us. I’m not saying Raheem is not a good player, not at all… but I prefer different kinds of wingers, simple,” said Maresca.
Ben Chilwell has also been sidelined by the new coach and is not part of his project at Chelsea.
